surfacing
in alchemy, albedo is the stage where transformation becomes visible. the previous form has dissolved, gone through fire, and is becoming purified through repeated cycles of dissolution and coagulation. what was dark begins to lighten, and what was formless starts to take on a new shape.
in the jungian context, this marks the moment when the old self has died and a new relationship with the interior begins to form. the unconscious has become a mirror instead of an abyss. it feels like wholeness may be possible, after all.
this is where i find myself now: in the in-between, where hazy possibilities begin to solidify. many versions of who i once thought i was have died, leaving room for something new to breathe.
it is here that i have made space to learn a new medium: to dance between wax and silver, fire and blade. i’ve only just begun to glimpse its depth and develop a relationship with it. i don’t yet know where it will take me, only that its hand is clasped in mine.
for this is not the final stage of the work: there is still a long path ahead, and plenty of time to re-enter the fire. like a gasp of air after a long dive, the albedo is not somewhere you stay:
it is something you surface from.
